Where can we find good news these days?

Reading the headlines might make us want to hibernate with some good cat videos online! Where can we find news that doesn’t side step the problems, but gives us hope that progress can be made?

According to Patricia Woodard, our upcoming speaker:

What we’re looking for is a view that uplifts our thoughts, changing our perspective to one that makes a difference for the better, that heals. To me, this is what Christian Science is about: finding a spiritual perspective of God that reveals the goodness, wellness, and freedom flowing from God every day, helping those take tangible and reliable shape in our lives and the lives of others. That’s the ultimate good news!

Patricia Woodard, is a practitioner of Christian Science healing and an international speaker.

Woodard’s message will bring to light the universal healing precepts found in the Bible, especially in Christ Jesus’ life and teachings, showing how these are available to everyone through Christian Science.

In her own life and professional practice of Christian Science, Woodard has experienced the healing effectiveness of Christian Science. Others, too, can prove that healing of all sorts of problems is possible in both a Christian and scientific way. This healing practice is fully described in the book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, written by the founder of the Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy.

Mary Baker Eddy, came to understand, confirm, and teach what she discovered was the Christian healing Jesus and his disciples did. Jesus’ demand, “He that believes on me, the works that I do will he do also; and greater works than these will he do, because I go unto my Father” is possible today and in every era. (John 14:12 in the Bible).

People around the world have been following this Christly method of healing for over 150 years and have experienced healings of physical ills and personal challenges.

Patricia Woodard lives in Dallas, Texas, and has been a Christian Science practitioner for many years. She has helped people on a daily basis through this Christianly scientific practice. As a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship she travels the world to give talks that uplift and introduce a new view of reality.

This event is sponsored by the Christian Science Churches in Glen Ellyn, Hinsdale, Elmhurst, Oak Lawn and Park Forest, Illinois.

More thoughts from Patricia Woodard

“The little bird in my hand was free to fly away. We’d banded him as part of an Audubon Society effort and the time had come for his release. But even when I opened my hand to let him go, he didn’t budge. What did he need? He just needed a little lift. When I gave him even the tiniest nudge upward, off he flew. Free!

What is it that gives this kind of lift to our lives? Good news, for one thing. And what better news than the promise that health and freedom can be ours today. Yes, today!

My lecture traces the origins of this good news to Christ Jesus’ ministry, and then explores how the discovery of a 19th-century woman named Mary Baker Eddy—who found freedom from chronic illness and other struggles in her own life—shows the provable relevance of Jesus’ ministry in our lives today. What she discovered through this study she called Christian Science—a view of God and the universe that uplifts our thoughts, changes our perspective to a spiritual viewpoint, and heals.”
